Open Solutions has benefited greatly from free and open source software over the years. We use it everyday - it runs our laptops, our desktops, our servers, our email, our websites and even our phone system.

While our staff have individually been highly involved in the open source community and different projects, in late 2010 we decided that the company itself should also contribute back in some way.

Over the coming months and years we will release some of the projects we work on internally as open source software as well as direct resources to solve problems we and other companies share and release those solutions as open source software.

Introducing ViMbAdmin :: Virtual Mailbox Administration

The first such project that we are releasing under the GNU General Public License V3 is ViMbAdmin (vim-be-admin). We developed this to manage some internal overhead and as an interface for some customers to whom we provide mail services.

It was designed with the idea of releasing it as FOSS from the beginning which adds quite a bit of overhead but also keeps the developers honest! It is a web application frontend for a database managing domains, mailboxes and aliases. It is hosted on GitHub and you can read more about it here.
